Who's Who

Father Sam Dennis - Vicar

Father Sam has been vicar of St. Luke's since February 2016.

“I grew up in north-west London, but moved south of the river after studying history at university.

After working as a pastoral assistant at King’s College London, I returned to Cambridge for theological formation at Westcott House. During my studies, I completed an MPhil in Church History.

I was ordained deacon in 2011 before being ordained priest in 2012, serving as assistant curate at St. John's Church, Catford between 2011 and 2015. As well as being the parish priest at St Luke’s, I am also a vocations adviser and teach Church history on the bishop’s certificate.

I am passionate about the Church being good news in the community – for everyone in our parish. Through our prayer and worship I hope we can be an oasis of prayer, beauty and peace – where we encounter God’s love. Through our commitment to welcome, justice and service, following Christ, I pray everyone can find a home.”

To relax, I love walking, gardening, and reading history and contemporary fiction. I can also be found being bossed around by Ziggy, our rescue Jack Russell.

Mother Jean Yearwood - Associate Priest

Mother Jean Yearwood attended the Parish Church of St Luke’s for many years prior to training for ordination at Trinity House; in conjunction with Bangor University in Gwynedd, North Wales.
